Michigan football lands 4-star recruit

Four-star defensive lineman Owen Wafle, announced his verbal commitment to the Wolverines on social media, just hours after wrapping up his official visit to campus over the weekend.
Wafle is listed at 6-foot-2 and 290 pounds and ranked as the No. 406 prospect in the ‘24 class according to 247Sports. He decommitted from Notre Dame just a few weeks ago, on May 24, after pledging in May 2022.
The Princeton, N.J., native has more than a dozen college scholarships to play football, including several Big Ten schools. Oklahoma even came into the picture last October.
As a junior, Wafle racked up 64 tackles (24 for a loss) and 10 sacks at Hun High School, with 247Sports recruiting analyst Brian Dohn describing the prospect — who also plays on offense as a fullback — as possessing a “thick build with plus length.”
Wafle is the fourth defensive lineman to commit as part of Michigan’s 2024 recruiting class, which entered Sunday ranked No. 2 nationally. The Wolverines have been on a tear recently, trailing only runaway No. 1 Georgia in the recruiting rankings, and welcomed a bevy of recruits to Ann Arbor over the last couple of days.
They also hosted the first of two prospect camps last Wednesday, with the second camp set for this coming Wednesday, June 14. A separate “big man” camp focused on offensive and defensive linemen is scheduled for Wednesday, June 21.
“We’ll be hitting hard camps and workouts, (hosting) official visitors; those will be the three main ones that keep us busy. (this summer),” head coach Jim Harbaugh said recently. “Fired up to knock it out of the park for the month of June.”
